Which road do you go to get what you want? Based on Psalm 1:1-6 Success is a big question in our life. In everything we do we try hard to accomplish what we want. We all have good plans for our lives. Having a good job, lovely and supportive marriage partner, happy and successful family … We want all the good things life can give us. Thus, people go different roads to get what they want from life. The Bible categorizes these roads in to two major parts. The first kinds of people get what they want at the expense of others. They may hurt others around them. They may cheat, lie, corrupt, take bribe or the like. They use win-lose approach. That is, in order to get what they want, others have to lose what they have or what they should have. This way, the Bible calls it evil. The second kinds of people follow a different way. They don’t use people to get what they want. Rather they share what they have. They care about people. They love people. They want hurt anyone. Besides, they follow God in their whole ways of life. They think of him day and night. They always consider what God wants them to do. In every situation they are, they ask for God’s guidance. As a result, these two ways bear fruit. Those who follow the first are …. like a straw that the wind blows away. Psalm 1: 4. This means their way leads them to their own destruction. They dig their own graves by their own doings. Therefore, to get what you want in life, you have those ways ahead of you. What you do about them is up to you. However, whatever you choose, you get the rewards or suffer the consequences.
